Brother printers come with various features like color printing, scanning, faxing, and photocopying, and are available for both office and home users. A Brother printer also has the option to choose between wired and wireless connectivity, according to the user’s needs. It is easy to set up and install. Brother printers are compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 10, and Mac operating systems. With a Brother printer, the offline error occurs due to multiple reasons.

MAKE SURE THAT BROTHER PRINTER IS SET AS DEFAULT (WINDOWS):

  • Go to Start > Search and navigate to Control Panel.
  • Select the Devices and Printers option.
  • Now, you can see the printer’s list on your screen.
  • Just right-click on your Brother printer’s icon and click on Set as default printer option.
  • Now, you need to Restart your printer to check whether the offline problem is solved or not.

CHECK THE BROTHER PRINTER STATUS (WINDOWS 10):

  • Open the Control Panel by using the Start menu, then select the Devices and Printers option.
  • Right-click on the Brother printer’s icon and select the See what’s printing option.
  • Now, click on the Printer tab from the top-left of the screen and see if there is any checkmark on the Use Printer Offline option. If yes, click to deselect the option.
  • Then, click again on the Printer tab from the top-left of the screen and select the Cancel All Documents option.

CLEAR AND RESTART PRINT SPOOLER:

  • Go to the Services window by using the Windows Search option or Run command.
  • Right-click on the Print Spooler service from the right-hand panel.
  • Click on the Stop Option.
  • Now, navigate to the respective spool printer folder on your computer.
  • Select all files from the printer’s folder and press the Delete key.
  • Go back to the Services window, right-click on the Print Spooler option, and select the Start menu.

UPDATE PRINTER DRIVER:

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and navigate to the Device Manager option.
  • Open the Device Manager and double-click on the Print queues option.
  • Now, locate your Brother printer from the list and right-click on it.
  • Click on the Update Driver Option.
  • From the next screen, choose the Browse my computer for driver software option.
  • On the next screen, select the Browse button next to the Search for drivers option.
  • Now, choose the folder to download the driver and click the OK button.
  • Finally, select the Next button after completing the driver update.

CHECK FOR PRINTER JAM ERROR:

  • If there is any paper jam between the rollers, turn off your printer and disconnect the power supply.
  • Now, open the front door of the printer and take out the rollers gently.
  • If you don’t have this option, try to pull out the paper tray and carefully remove the jammed papers.
  • Once you take out the papers from the rollers, send a printing command.
